Has anybody been in September or October in Samoa, Tonga, Solomon Islands, Kiribati or Nauru and knows when which month will be better? Which month are more sunny days?
It's very important to know asap.
Thanks so much for any advice;)
I hear a lot if antihype for surfing Tonga. Has anyone been and surfed there, seen waves? I am an off the radar surfer. I do not require hawaiian north shore perfection to call it surfing, I am just trying to find out if there is some decent fun maybe challenging surfing to be explored in Tongan islands...
Being just south of Samoa how can they not get waves, I'm from Hawaii and Samoa is one the heaviest and gnarliest places I've surfed, so if u know what I seek please "do tell"
We recently made a trip to Tonga and it was one of the most fascinating experiences of our lives!
Our first day was spent in the main island of Tongatapu, where we hired a car to drive around and check out the natural and cultural wonders... the Mapu'a' Vaca blowholes were the absolute highlight.
I wrote a detailed blog post with lost of pics, itinerary and tips to inspire other travelers, check it out here.
I arrive in Tonga next Thursday morning 0130 from Sydney...
I am struggling to find accommodation and who would be willing to transfer me to a hotel at that time of the morning. It would great if someone would be able to pass on a little advice on this matter.
Thank you in advance !
Hi, There are a number of resorts on the Northern tip of Tongatapu. It's pretty hard to compare them as far as being on a beach you can swim from, if the reef is accessible directly (as opposed to having to be taken out by boat) and whether there will be kayaks etc available and included. We are a family with 2 older children who don't surf or dive but enjoy most sports. Hiring stuff for 4 isn't cheap so if things like this are included it makes a big difference.
Anyone got any recomendations…
Hi, Has anyone been to Tonga over the Christmas break, or live there, who knows what happens to the ferries around this time of year
This year boxing day is a Saturday and we would like to go to 'Eua that day as we only have short time in Tonga. I wonder if the ferry to 'Eua is likely to operate, or not until Monday 28th. It's not clear from the ferry timetable and no response to emailing them (in English).
Hi, Does anyone know if you can get a driving licence for Tonga before you go - a visitor licence that would be. Have a full clean NZ driving licence and would like to pick up a hire car from the airport when we arrive. Have heard it can be a time consuming business getting a licence in the capitol and this would save the initial taxi fare in as well.
In a few weeks I'll be in Tonga for a couple of weeks. Most of that time I'll b busy but I have a few days off and I'd love to visit and climb Tofua.
I'll be based in Tongatapu. Does anyone have advice on the logistics of geting to Tofua from Tongatapu? I hear it's not easy. Especilly, wil 2 days cover a trip there and back, and how can I make the trip? Can I go directly from Tongatapu or will I need to make my way to Lifuka?
Although I would like to see the Island Bligh landed…
Hi everyone, so far I haven't found any agency that does overnight kayak rentals on Vavau. Does anyone out there know if it is possible to rent kayaks overnight? I will be traveling with three friends and ideally we dont want to worry about having to return kayaks at a certain time etc? We are hoping for a little more freedom to go at our own pace. If we cant find overnight rentals we are considering taking inflatable kayaks with us? Good idea? Any advice and/or tips will be appreciated..Thank…
