Vietnam Visa In Hong Kong
You can get a Vietnam vies in HK. It is on the HK island, (Wan Chai). It is on 230 Wan Chai road Great Smart tower Building. Enter from Canal Road East and it is not far along from there. It takes 2 days normal for 1 month $300HK but you can get one in 15 min but it only last for 14 days and it costs an extra $500HK

canoeing in MongoliaRiver sport isn't yet a big thing in Mongolia and locating a good guide and equipment can be a bit tricky. But there are some brilliant rivers there and this can be a great way to see them. I was lucky enough to find an excellent guide, a UB high school physical education teacher who also does canoe trips and is extremely knowledgeable about the area. FYI, Viet Nam visa can be obtained on the ground floor in Guangxi Investment Building (Tou Zi Da Sha) on Ethnic Parade (Min Zu Da Dao). The Viet Nam consulate entrance is located outside the main building entrance, just beside the Commercial Bank. The visa cost 400 yuan and 4 working days. If you want same day visa, add 200 yuan. There are also direct bus from Nanning to Halong Bay, departs 8:00am in the morning, from River South Bus Centre (Jiang Nan Ke Yun Zhong Xing). The bus crosses the border at DongXing border town instead of Gate of Friendship. Total bus travel time from Nanning to Halong bay is 9 hours. Cost 100 yuan.

Obtaining a Mongolian Visa in IrkutskI applied for a Mongolian visa in Irkutsk today - some of the info provided by the Trans-Siberian Handbook, LP, and previously on this sticky, is out of date. So, in the hope this will help future travellers, here is the information I obtained at the Mongolian consulate (ul Lapina 11, Irkutsk).
GENERAL
Payment is preferred in rubles (US dollars are also accepted).
I needed my passport and one passport photo (no itinerary or evidence of onward travel was required).
I arrived at the consulate at 10am and was offered a 4.30pm same day pick up (at 24 hour processing price), 4.30pm next day pick up (at 48 hour processing price), 4.30 pm three days later pick up (at 6 day price).
TRANSIT VISA COST AND PROCESSING TIMES (valid for 3 days only - not 10 days as indicated in LP and Trailblazer)
$US65 - 24 hours
$US53 - 48 hours
$US28 - up to 6 days
$US20 - 7 days
TOURIST VISA COST AND PROCESSING TIMES (valid for 30 days)
$US105 - 24 hours
$US55 - 48 hours

Taboos and UntaboosWhen entering someone's home, take off your shoes. The host will tell you to not take them off, but it is not appropriate to walk in your street shoes inside someone's home. Take them off even though the host protests. The host is required by culture to protest, but will appreciate very much that you remove them.
Don't spit on the restaurant floor if they have a carpet on the floor.
A toddler can pee anywhere so watch where you are walking, another reason for removing your shoes.
Don't take the last item of food on a dish in the middle of the table.
Don't say excuse me if you burp or fart, it only draws attention to something.
You can talk with your mouth full of food.
Receive a business card with a very small bow and with both hands at the same time. Always read the card and look at it carefully before putting it away. Always hand your card to another holding your card with both hands.
If you are paying for dinner or giving something to another, the person is required to say no or refuse the item at a minimum of three times. So don't give up if you really want to pay.
Food and drink will be offered several times, if you don't want it you must continue to say no.
If someone is giving you something, you should refuse to take it at least once or twice before accepting it.
Don't tip.
Don't believe someone if they say, "You can't get there from here."
When eating and drinking make a toast for thanking everyone and your host, even if you don't know Chinese.
If others are making a toast, it is acceptable to drink a cup of water, tea, soda, or whatever.
Tap your index and middle fingers on the table when someone fills your cup. Fill others cups when you see they are empty. A bottle of beer is usually meant to be poured into several glasses not held onto as if it is your bottle.
Don't say you want to eat "pi gu" if you want ribs, the correct word is, "Pai gu".
