Which month is the best time to go to Europe? Jun/July/Aug/S

Which month is the best time to go to Europe? Jun/July/Aug/Sept.

in terms of
* weather
* cost
* crowds
* availability of affordable, good accommodation (ties in with 'crowds' I guess).
* seeing attractions/holidays/events

If you could only choose ONE of those months.. which would it be?

I've never been to Europe before and have heard summer is very busy but I have no choice but to go in one of these months.
Thanks.

I think it is September `cause children go to school so crowds are smaller

I was just wondering how much time you have? Seems like you are planning to cover a huge terrain.

Hey Camelina
I am from Scotland, so recommend you avoid the frozen north is you want sunshine guaranteed. I have travelled extensively in Europe, and I would choose June, as the weather reather starts to get nice and warm around the Med then, but not scorching, and most importantly the tourists have not decended en masse yet! September is also less busy, but only really nice south of Paris for t-shirt weather!

My favourite way of travelling is now aboard a boat - I love the sea, and discovering island life of Europe's Cultural Birthplace - the MEDITRRANEAN. Sailing can be a great way to have a floating base for your explorations - avaoiding the crowds by lifting anchor!
If you want a special, affordable introduction to the best of the Westen Med, I can personally recommend the new travel idea at

Definitely not July or August. September first, then June otherwise. All that in a month? Bit ambitious methinks.

July and August are when most people take their holidays (especially those with kids, because of the constraints of school holidays). As a consequence, attractions, especially close to the sea, are overcrowded - thus high prices, rip-offs, and huge lines.

June is probably better.

By the way, I advise you against trying to "do" 6 countries in one month. Such attempts generally result in people spending their time in transportation.

"July and august are hell and are the most expensive months."

Actually, I've found in Andalusia, that many of the hotels in the inland cities like Granada, Cordoba and Sevilla are actually cheaper in July/August than in June/September. OK its hot but I can stand that.

September!
August too hot in a lot of places. And August is at the height of the tourist crush.

June or September. Good weather. Less people.

yeah, september. But, if you do go as late as this start north and work your way south. For some reason, the second week of october seems to issue in storms in the north. Anything south of the paris area would still be o.k.

#6 If they're doing that it's WAY too ambitious. That's 5.5 large (Austria's titchy) countries in 5 weeks. Travelling time alone is going to be considerable.

Depends on whether one is more tolerant of low temperatures or big crowds...September -November is former, May-August if later
