For train service it takes foreign cards. But... it does require registration and it seems to prefer but not require Amex. Seat61 is the site to keep up with the changes there:(..

Train reservation fee went up today (no, this is not an April Fool's prank), along with most everything else except the various kinds of fuel. Happy New Fiscal year.
