301I know it's been said, but the view of the caldera and the towns on the cliffs in Santorini. I too arrived at night, so I did not see it from the ferry, and my hotel was not one with a caldera view, so on the first morning a friend and I started out to explore, and once I turned a corner in Fira and caught site of it, I gasped actually, and I went back to my friend who hadn't looked up yet, and made her cover her eyes until she was in the exact right spot. She too was taken aback.
I had similar experiences discovering the old town in Prague, and exiting the train in Venice.
I've never been one for sunsets, but something about sunrises are so great, maybe because it means you've stayed up too late, or because you've gotten up before the rest of the world, but one sunrise in the Colorado Rockies was incredible.

As we lay there, a shooting star blasted through the sky. Simply amazing. Driving from the Myvatn east area across the high plateau and down to the sea near Egilsstadir.
