16You picked three great places. You'll have a really good experience.
Kita-kyushu is also fabulous .... makreb thank you for suggesting it, people get really harsh on it in comparison with Fukuoka-shi.
Good luck RSG

thanks for your feedback.
I don't know where I will be placed yet (find out in May). I asked for a semi-urban placement in 1. Kumomoto 2. Nagaskia 3. Hirshoma prefectures.
Getting v excited.
Current JETs - I realise it depends on so many factors, but do you find you have any money left over at the end of the month? The reason I ask is that I have debts to pay off and am trying to set them up so can continue to pay while away but this is difficult as I have no idea how much I can viably put aside. Any ideas would be gratefully received.
re car, hopefully I won't need one. but if someone remote think will be a good investment so don't go stir-crazy!
So normally I can expect to have internet access at school? that's good to know.
still no closer to figuring the best language course to use. I'll check out bigdaikon, although did find it v negative last time had a look..

I envy you so much. I was living in Kyoto for one year. No wonder it was the best year of my life. I was not a Jet teacher but I was living in a Gakusei Center where I met many of them. For the money, don't worry; Japan looks more expensive than it really is, so you get by. As for the car, depending on where you live, it would be a bad idea. I agree with naniwako about the scooter; a bike would be very convenient too (everyone has a bike in Japan), good enough to take you to the nearest train station. From there, you can get nearly anywhere.
When I was there, I lived half way from Kyoto to Nara. I think you did well not applying to Nara. It's a very nice place but a bit cold in the winter and, since you said you didn't like the cold, you would have been disappointed. I don't know about the other places, but I'm sure they will be hotter than Nara.
So, when are you finally going there? Keep us posted!!

For anyone interested (??) I was placed in Kyushu, in Kumamoto-ken, in a town called Ashikita. It's opposite the Amakusa Islands and is v beautiful.
So I've been here for 6 weeks now and am enjoying every moment of it. I would recommend the area to anyone else considering coming out. And definitely would recommend the Jet programme as you're really looked after.
thanks again for everyone that gave me advice earlier this year.

23I recommend Hakodate City, Hokkaido.
The 3rd largest city on the southern tip of the island makes
the most beautiful night view from the top of the mountain
stretching into the sea.
Not so cold in the winter although the city is located in Hokkaido.
The exotic city is built with many western architectures.
