Two Women Driving in MoroccoHi!
In a few weeks, a friend and I are flying into Marrakech for a holiday. We want to get out of the city for a few days, and I suggested we drive out to Merzouga. A little background, I've done my fair share of overlanding (across India, North Africa, East Africa, US, Europe, etc.), and I feel 100% comfortable renting a car and taking off. My friend has considerably less experience (as in zero experience driving abroad), and she's concerned about two women driving out in Morocco. She is especially concerned with safety and any additional issues/negative attention that may be related to her being a black woman. My guess is that it will be substantially similar to what I've experienced as a woman traveling in North Africa (a bit annoying but totally mangeable), but I just don't know.
So, I'd like thoughtful suggestions and comments on:
1) Two ladies driving through Morocco
2) Any special precautions for traveling as a woman of color

1Loads of dark skinned people in Morocco, especially in the south. Some trip reports for you to read:
Where possible get off the main roads and onto the side roads. Don't be too ambitious with distances, especially over mountain passes.

2oh i'm so sorry i didn't get to this topic earlier, ladies there is really nothing to worry about, after all you're going to africa so... i would not say moroccans are black because most of us aren't, and chances are you're even going to be noticed unlike if you were white and blonde
so yeah go ahead, have a good time and drive cautiously
