Sri Lanka Trip - Advice Required.I am currently planning a trip to Sri Lanka over New Year and was hoping someone could offer some advice.
1. I would like to do a 2 day/1 night trip to Yala National Park from Colombo. Does anyone know of affordable local companies that offer this service? I am going along so don't really want to hire a driver and guide by myself if I can help it.
2. I will be based around Pinnawala Orphanage for the majority of my trip. Does anyone have any good recommendations of things to do and see around this area?
3. We are looking to spend a weekend diving at either Hikkaduwa or Unawatuna. Which of these has the better diving? Would we be able to get picked up from these places to do a whale watching tour from Dondra Point?

1Specify which New Year.
If you don’t need car and driver take bus from Colombo to Tissa.
For even safari you no need a company to organize.
You can hire a Jeep from the hotel Lake side Inn at Tissa, or you can talk direct to the jeep drivers who are waiting at the dam of Tissa Lake.
Things to do from Pinnawala;
You can go to Kandy by bus or train and day trips to Dambulla /Sigiriya.
Kurunagala is a very interesting town to mix with locals.
Best pace to do diving is in Hikkaduwa.
Whale watching tours are starting from Mirissa & Galle.
Mirissa; organize by local companies and fisherman’s
