Visa extensionHi all
I am an graduate exchange student living in Beirut until february. I will be leaving the country for at short time around Christmas.
I recently got rejected getting a student visa, as I my enrollment letter from my university wasn't stamped at the danish Embassy. However the Danish embassy refuses to stamp the document, leaving me without the possibility of getting the student visa.
I have heard it is possible to get a three month extension to your tourist visa (I am a Danish citizen). Is this information correct? Do I need to go to the airport or to General Security to get it?

1I am not quite sure I understand you situation. You are in Lebanon now, and you are a student. But what is your current purpose IN LEBANON? Are you now studying in the country?
If that is the case, why do you ask about extending a TOURIST visa? Would you not have had a student visa from the start? And would the university in Lebanon not have supported a student visa for the FULL duration of your stay from the beginning?
What role would your own embassy have? Why should your embassy stamp (confirm, whatever) an enrolment letter from a Lebanese educational institution? (And why would the Lebanese authorities demand that extra step?) Your embassy can only confirm facts that have to do with your being Danish.
If for whatever reason a visa extension does not work out you could fly to a neighbouring country for a few days and return to Lebanon to gain a fresh, full-length visa upon arrival (Amman, Larnaca). But that brings me back to the initial issue - I don't think it is wise to pursue an activity that your visa type does not allow (e.g. study on a tourist visa).

2I am student. I entered on a one month tourist visa which I planned to get made into a student residence permit which according to my uni is standard procedure. However, I was denied that at General Security.
As I'm on exchange I am currently enrolled at both a lebanese and a danish uni. The lebanese enrollment letter needs to be stamped by the ministry of higher education, and the danish letter by the danish embassy. The last part is not possible.
My question then is, if it is true that you can get a three month extension to a tourist visa? And if it is, where should I get it. At the airport or a general security?
I know i might not be the wisest thing to be here for another purpose than what my visa states, but I have done similar things in a few other countries withouth problems. Besides, I dont want to need to fly out of Lebanon every month.
