Vic Falls and onward. Where to go?Hello again, fellow Forum users,
We are in the final stages of planning our trip in Zimbabwe next December, hopefully camping in our tent as much as possible.
We have 7 days left after we leave Vic Falls before we need to be back at Beitbridge to re-enter SA. We will have been to Great Zimbabwe, Bulawayo and Hwange NP. We had hoped to be able to follow the Zambezi, maybe as far as Chete, then swing inland towards Kweke and Gweru.
The question is: Is this possible in an ordinary hire car (not 4X4)? All the research I've done from other travellers blogs suggest that it would be very difficult, maybe impossible. I'm also having problems finding mention of any accommodation options at Chete or on the road through to Kweke.
I would be very grateful if anyone with experience of this route could offer me any advice.
Also, if we can't do that we would welcome suggestions for another option. We would prefer to stay in the South Western area of the country on this trip, our first in Zimbabwe because if all goes well we would intend to return for a longer trip in the rest of the country another time.
Thanks for any help.

2Thanks for your reply. We've decided to retrace our footsteps back to Bulawao and take a look at the Gweru area from there. We thought that the Zambezi and the Lake deserves longer than we have got on this trip and we would leave it for another time, maybe starting off from the top end.
I took a look at Chete Lodge on-line, out of interest and it said 'closed until further notice'!
