Female Traveling along to LondonHello from Portland, OR! I was wondering if I could get some advice on traveling alone to London.
I will be leaving in November; it will be a short trip.
I plan on flying into Heathrow (is this a good choice?)
I plan on doing sight seeing! And maybe even taking a flight across to Paris (suggestions)
Would love to hear back from....anyone!

1Hi from Bonn, Germany.
Heathrow's as good a choice as any, given it's the world's busiest international airport. See http://www.heathrowairport.com.
If you want to sight see London, see http://www.visitlondon.com or the FAQ on this branch.
If you want to go to Paris, don't bother flying it, take the http://www.eurostar.com.
You could even fly home out of Paris CDG airport (flying into city A and home from city B is known as an open jaw ticket). If you did go to Paris, there's absolutely no need to return to London to fly home.
Do bear in mind that London on its own could easily keep you occupied for 5-7 days, and there are enough day trips around London for another week if you wanted. Also bear in mind that due to the time of the year + Latitude it'll be quite dark. Assume on getting around 9 hrs daylight a day - http://www.timeanddate.com can be more specific if it matters.

3Hello, I'm not sure how many days your are talking about since it's a short trip, but I would factor in a day or two to recover from jet lag, which after a transatlantic flight like that can be quite severe.
Heathrow is a great airport to land in because there are trains to Central London from there.
My fav website for booking hotels and flights is Thrifty Travels:
You can also try SkyScanner.com for intra-Europe flights on many budget airlines which you will not find on Expedia or Kayak.
Having traveled to quite a few countries in Europe, my experience has been that you should compare both train and plane rates. Sometimes I've found that it's much cheaper to fly.
