Two weeks in South America, advice?Hello
My girlfriend and I visited a few friends in Bogota, Colombia a few weeks ago and had a great time exploring all around Colombia. It was our first time in South America.
With my work I cant really get more than two weeks off. If we were to plan a backpacking adventure for this time next year, what would you recommend? Macchu Pichu is something I definitely want to see.
we woukd probably land in Bogota again to see friends for a few days and then head off ourselves. Woukd tbis be wise for cost? I read flights in South America are generally expensive as there arent as many low cost airlines like here in Europe.
We'd be flying from northern ireland, so a costly flight, but we hope to budget well and keep costs down when out there (whilst having a great time of course!!), any advice woukd be much appreciated.

1Two weeks is a very short time for a very big continent. And flying to Bogota and then onto Lima is going to be costly.
If Machu Picchu is a 'definitely must see'. Then fly straight to Lima and then connect to Cusco or Arequipa. And don't bother with seeing friends in Colombia. As you don't necessarily have time.
International flights in South America are expensive. Peru has some cheap internal flights through Star. And so does Brazil through Low Cost carriers.
