Downtown Detroit music toursHi everyone, I'm heading to Detroit for a work conference, and would love to see more of the city while I'm there. I'll be staying in Oakland, but would like to see some of downtown, and in particular I'd like to take a tour of the city's Motown musical sites. Does anyone know if I'd be able to do this without renting a car? Are there any recommended tours?
Thanks a million!

1Here is a website tour that shows you the locations you're interested in: Tour Soulful Detroit. Click the upper right link.
If you see nothing else, you must go here: Motown Historical Museum
You might find something here: Detroit Historical Museum
As far as I know there are no organized tours of these places. The Detroit bus system is very undependable, so I highly recommend renting a car.
If you have the time, you should also see The Henry Ford Museum

2I would not spend too much time hoping to see anything worth your while,as downtown is really not that interesting outside of the Greek Town, Convention center and Casino area, and the new Baseball park.
I would visit the Henry Ford Museum, the Zoo, long before the desolate and run down streets of Detroit, which you want a rental car. promise.
