My husband and I will be in San Pedro over the Christmas holiday, we are having a hard time finding a tour company that will help us personalize a tour package, seems like they are all too busy to spend the time replying to inquiries, but are more than happy to ask for a deposit.
Any suggestions on a budget friendly small tour company would be greatly appreciated.

4It really is a big mistake to reserve tours before you get there. As you have seen, even the tour operators prefer to talk to you in person. Most of the time you don't even need to reserve a hotel room except for holidays and maybe for your first night. There are tons of empty rooms and you will not only be locked in, will pay more but there is always a better room for less money right across the street. Booking tours in advance is just plain silly.

5Some tours can book up during peak periods like Christmas, but in general I agree that you are better off not booking in advance before arrival, given potential weather issues and so forth. Also not sure what kind of trips you're talking about, whether mainland or Blue Hole or what. In general, at Christmas it's probably a good idea to check out the options on arrival and see what tours are available, and if it sounds like there may be a scheduling issue then try to make a reservation (but if possible without paying all the money up front.) There are lots of tour operators in San Pedro and most are glad to put on an extra boat or whatever on demand if it makes economic sense, but on occasion trips, such as to the Blue Hole, are fully booked so it makes sense to check things out a few days before you plan to go.
