Itinerary suggestions in Mexico on the way to Central AmericaI live in San Diego, USA and plan to visit Central America by road through Mexico. I'll be making my way to Mazatlan and then to Guadalajara by bus/ferry from Tijuana.
Need suggestions for the "cities" of interest in Mexico en-route from Guadalajara to Belize. I have been to Mexico City before but wouldn't mind visiting it again on my way to Belize. My focus is on history/sightseeing/culture and may be beaches but not hiking/trekking.

4There are a lot of nice places sort of close to Guadalajara. Tequila, Guanajuato, Queretaro, Dolores Higalgo, San Miguel de Allende, Morelia, Patzcuaro, Yuriria, Salvatierra, Tlalpujuhua, many others. Lots of colonial history.
Oaxaca and Monte Alban are nice. There are interesting ruins and lots of mezcal at Mitla. From San Cristobal you could head through Comitan and to Guatemala and get to Belize via Flores/Tikal or else head north to Palenque and see Campeche, Merida, Valladolid before entering Belize via Chetumal.
You really can't go too far wrong no matter your route. Just depends how much time you've got. You might get some ideas by googling "pueblos magicos"
