East to West road trip adviceHi everyone,
We're doing a drive from east to west and would love any advice of places to stay between the major cities, whether campsites or relatively cheap hotels etc.
These are the main places we're driving through...
California coast to LA
If anyone has done any of these routes and can recommend places to stay that'd be hugely appreciated!

1What is your budget, in numbers? My "cheap" may be your "too expensive," and your "cheap" may not be realistic.
Also read FAQ 234.
Just to be clear, you will have a car, right? We have received some "road trip" posts before that were really by transit (which is not a "road trip").
How long is this trip?
When is this trip?
What are your interests? History? Art? Music? Food? Hikes? Bikes? Night clubs? Strip clubs? Remember, we don't know you and what we like may be what you hate.
I ask because maybe your planned route may be better with some subsitutions, or you have time for worthwhile diversions. At the very least, it could help choose places between your destiinations that you're more likely enjoy.

2As per bjookaj, can't advise without more information. What is your budget? What month (or months) of the year are you travelling? What are your interests? Any mandatory stops along the way (visiting friends or family, must-see places, etc.)?
Also, where are you starting from and where is your final destination?

3Since you haven't listed your interests for us to help guide you towards things you might like might I suggest checking out Roadtrippers kinda helps guide you where you want to go.

5As you may have noticed A&M, there is a tough crew here ... but it's hard to blame them (us). Help us to help you - with the most basic information. Now I can appreciate a new person on here not realising straight away that the time of year, the length of the trip, a budget framework, and a guide to your interests - might be critical factors in getting good responses, but still I think you need to be rather negligent not to think about these things. Have you read any other threads, for instance?
Nevertheless - I can recommend the Wyndham Group website for consistently good-quality budget motels right across the country - we've used them a great deal, their website is neat, and you can cancel usually up to your day of arrival - allowing you to stay flexible if your plans change.
Have a great trip.
