1Nope, no open border between the two (although you can look longingly across the Mekong in places.....
Not to say an occasional tale is told that some expert wayfarer proved to the contrary, but none of us mere mortals could achieve the goal.
Laos and Vietnam have several land crossings for tourists, but you will need a Vietnamese Visa in advance to get into Vietnam from Loas (get it in Vientiane perhaps?
A guide book like Lonely Planet will have all this information, and I believe - especially if you're traveling for the first time through a region - that such guides are pretty helpful.

Actually you CAN go into Myanmar from Thailand but it is hardly worth it. If you just wished to cross it off your tick list and say you have been there you can cross via 3 pagodas pass. You have to do it from Sangklaburi (sp) and can only go for a few hours and not travel outside of the very small area there. Simply not worth the bother. Just in case you are confused you cannot cross from Myanmar into Laos. This is assuming that you have the same travel restrictions as the rest of us, you hide your nationality here and no one knows what passport you travel on. Help us to help you, give some info.

4as above...several land crossings for Laos-Vietnam...none with Burma...
Best you could do is exit Myanmar via land crossing at Taichileik into Mae Sai nth Thailand, then continue into Laos from there...but to do that you would still need to use a Myanmar domestic flight from Heho/Mandalay/Yangon to Kengtung or Taichileik as there is not yet any road travel allowed between those.
Also...until now/recently (or still do..?) you needed a $85 special permit from Myanmar MTT office, just to exit via land that route....that permit requirement is rumoured to be removed as of late August (??).
Hardly worth it unless you planned on visiting Kengtung area anyway while in Myanmar....Airasia flight Mandalay/Yangon to Bangkok then by land from there to Laos is probably cheaper….
