Nicest Georgian beach resort (also directed to AndrewSmith)Which is your favourite beach resort in Georgia? We'll going on a 16-day-trip to Georgia next week and would like to spend a few days at the beach, probably at a quiet place with a nice beach if possible.
AndrewSmith has once posted some information about a beautiful hotel at the coast, but unfortunately TT's changes have eaten the thread and PMs are disabled, so if you read this - I'd be grateful for a hint. I think there was also a flickr gallery of the place, but can't find your flickr account either.

1I've been to two places on the coast, Poti and Batumi. Poti features a huge container terminal, it's very industrialised. Batumi is a nice atmospheric citiy with long beach and a boulevard. Myself having grown up by sandy beaches at Baltic sea I wasn't really keen on lying on a pebble beach. Still very nice place to relax, with good selection of fish (not only) restaurants, also dolphinarium and botanical garden.

There is a great place to stay in Anaklia. It is a bit of a crossover of a b&b, hostel and private home. The thing is it is very sociable, open minded and easy going. And there is a nice kitchen where one can cook his own meals (or for all the people staying). No English spoken though as it is an entirely Georgian affair. Very unusual though.
I could go through my travel notes and probably find the address and phone number if you are interested.

6I'm aware that Georgia probably isn't the Caribbean, but I'm absolutely fine with a bit of water and some pebbles to recharge my batteries.
Anaklia and Gonio both look very nice - I'm drawn to Anaklia as it's the most "remote" (i.e. on the border with Abkhazia), but this is just a feeling.
Thanks a lot so far (and the address of your place, altona, will be appreciated, if you can find it).

9Hi mattoni and Fareaway!
I think I found the telephone number of the place in Anaklia that I was writing about:
855 14 44 92
The guy who runs it is called Kacha Samacia. He is single and a fun guy. His place is like no other that I stayed at in Georgia. But that was three years ago and I don`t know what has happened since.
Once you are in Anaklia, you drive Rustaveli St. south. It is the very last house on that street. Ask for Kacha. (He might or might not remember me: Martin from Germany who gave him a yellow oilskin jacket as a gift.) There are other homestays in Anaklia as well, so don`t worry.
I found Anaklia a pleasant place to wash off the dust from Svaneti. Actually it is Anaklia and Ganmuxuri you would be visiting. Ganmurxuri is a very interesting place as well but you probably need a tiny bit of local political background to fully understand it.
