Trans-Siberian Itinerary: Looking for FeedbackHi,
I am planning a trip and was hoping to get your feedback on whether I am spending too much time or not enough in various places. I'm on a bit of a condensed schedule because I have to start in St. Petersburg Sept. 16 and end in Beijing Oct. 1. After looking at train schedules I've come up with the following itinerary outline and I could really use some feedback. Thanks so much in advance, I really appreciate all the help!
So I was thinking:
*St. Petersburg (3 days and 3 nights)
*Moscow 3 days 3 nights
*56 hour train ride to Krasnoyarsk
*1 day in Krasnoyarsk to go to the Stolby Reserve
(question): is a day trip to Stolby manageable? I've had trouble finding information on where Stolby is relative to Krasnoyarsk
*Train to Irkutsk
*3 days in Irkutsk/Lake Baikal
question: given my limited time there does it make sense to use Irkutsk as a base and do two day trips to Baikal or should i stay at some villages along the lake and just use Irkutsk as my starting and return point of contact?
*Train to Ulan Bataar, 2 nights in Ulan Bataar
*End trip in Beijing
How does it look? Please let me know. Thanks again!

2 nights in UB is not much time to get outside the city. In fact, with that limited time, you'll need to plan in advance if you want to see anything but the capital.
