16The fee is 400$,or 200$ if you call(cancellation fee).
And Ian, ihave been travelling international before -asia, south america, europe...., and often just with my backpack that i Bring as a carry on (no checked luggage),although now it seems that airlines are more restrictive on the size of bag you can bring as carry on, and AA charges for checked luggage... So, i'm trying to keep my cost as low as possible. I got an amazing price for that flight (toronto-italy), it was more expensive to take one leg of the trip out (such as jfk-toronto), so now i only want to know if there's any way to get out of that fee. Nobody seems to know.

18If you have a single e-ticket that covers both the Emirates and the American flights then you should get boarding passes for both the Europe-JFK and JKF-Toronto flights together and although your baggage will be checked to Toronto you will have to retrieve it at JFK to take it through US customs. After you have cleared customs but just before you walk out the exit door would be a good time to remove the baggage labels if you want to do a runner from JFK. It used to be that the worst penalty for a no-show was the loss of value of all remaining flight coupons but the imagination of airlines when it comes to devising new fees knows no bounds. I am not sure how they could charge you though if you bought the ticket with a debit card that did not allow you to go overdrawn and made sure the account was empty?

20Wow, Yaguri, so it's still happening. These days I stay off of airplanes with a religious fervor, so I wind up doing everything with frequent flyer miles earned by credit card purchases. United Airlines prices FF itineraries in one-way segments, even for round trips. Southwest prices everything in one-way terms also. The other day, I priced some trips out West for a nephew who might be coming here next summer, and the RTs were the same as two one-ways.
That's why I wrote what I did, but obviously the differential hasn't disappeared.
