Typhoid vaccination shortageHello,
I went to get my Typhoid vaccination today and found out that there has been no available vaccinations in Ontario ( possibly all of canada?) for a couple months and most likely will not be available by our Aug 16th departure date. My last vaccination was in 2009 ( needle) so I am due for another shot. We are still going to Indonesia. How big of a problem is typhoid in indonesia? We will be traveling on a klotok in Borneo ( I am thinking of bringing our own food/water for this) and then to flores to cruise and see the islands, borodobur and bali. Any advice would be appreciated.

4I contracted typhoid in Jogja about 5 years ago but it was no big big problem... wrongly diagnosed in Jogja but got myself to Bali, was prescribed the correct antibiotic and after a couple more days felt fine to continue. On the other hand, nearly fifty years ago I had a vaccination against typhoid and a number of paratyphoids yet still contracted paratyphoid (presumably another one) a few weeks later in Afghanistan.... I went temporarily blind... luckily there was a peace corp clinic there
