From Iquitos to LeticiaHello!!!
I'm planning this agoust to do the journey from Iquitos to Leticia. I would like some information from people that has done that:
- There are fast boats every day? How much they cost? How long they take?
- Should I reserved the ticket boat the days before, or the same day is ok?
- Is it easy in the border, in Santa Rosa? And in Columbia?
- Some tips that you think is good to know....?
And if you can recomended cheaps air company that flight from Lima to Iquitos: I know Peruvian, Star Perú...and from Leticia to Bogotá?
Moreover, if you know some cheap hostals in Iquitos and Leticia, that you liked...good ambient...
Thanks a lot for your time and tips, they will be very usefull!

1i got the fast boat before, not sure if they go every day but definately book in advance (i.e. the day before).
It only took a few hours hours, maybe 3. Once you get into colombia you walk right off the boat and you're done. To get my passport stamped i had to go to the immigration office in leticia airport, a short ride away from the town. There's was no passports stamped getting off the boat.
Hostel in iquitos: Flying Dog was good, i liked it
Hostel in Leticia: La Jangada Hospedaje, i'd recommend it, nice and chilled out

2I went from Iquitos to Santa Rosa (Leticia) two years ago. Transporte Golfinho runs speedboats twice weekly. Transtur used to run three times a week but I can no longer find any information about the departures on their webpage. When you arrive in Santa Elena get your Peruvian exit stamp from the immigration office across the street from the dock. Cross the river by boat taxi to Leticia. There is no immigration office in the port of Leticia. You have to go to the Airport within 24 hours to get your entry stamp.
I agree with desflan, if possible, you should buy your ticket at least one day in advance.

I am in Iquitos now and will be doing this journey on Saturday. There are 2 speedboat companies:
Golfinho which leaves Wednesdays and Sundays
Transtur leaves Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
No boat on Mondays.
Both cost 200 soles or 80 US dollars.
They leave at 6am (you need to be there at 5:30) and take 10 - 12 hours. You need to book by the day before.
In Iquitos I am staying at Golodrinas hostel which is nice - the lady who runs it is very helpful, there is a kitchen to cook for yourself and a swimming pool. Wifi and computer. 18 soles for a dormitory, 30 soles for a private room.
For cheap flights in Colombia viva colombia is a good option.
