We are in Nagano area for about 10 days and looking for advice about hiking in Hakuba. We plan to stay in Kamishiro and looking for 1 or 2 different day hikes. Our travel itinerary already includes a three day hike in Kamikochi. Other places we are visiting are Nagano, Obuse, Matsumoto, and maybe Kiso Valley (we haven't decided yet if the scenery will be overshadowed by too many tourists). Any ideas besides Hakuba would be appreciated as well- just looking for a way to spend out last few days of holiday. We have already been to Takayama and Kanazawa, so looking to stay relatively close to Nagano.

1From Kamishiro, you can take the Goryu ski lift up to 1660m form there it's a 3 hr walk up to a nice viewpoint. The trail is well signposted.
Form Hakuba you can also take the Ski gondola up to Happo which has great views and from there it's 2hrs return walk to Happo Lake. If you are feeling energetic you can go up further towards Karamatsu but the return hike to the peak will take 7hrs.
For a gorgeous 2 day hike you could link them together, go up in the Gondola, then hike up to Karamatsu and along the ridge to Goryu hut (6.5hrs hike), stay overnight and climb Goryu in the morning before going down to the ski lift (6hrs hike) and Kamishiro
