3Calling "Salina Cruz" a tourist attraction is a biiiit of a stretch, and it's actually out of the way. Of course, it is the gateway to the coast and to the Huave (Ikoots) culture, and another alt way of getting to the city is going to the Puerto Angel first then getting another van up to the capital.
Cañon is a nice spot, personally I think it's a lot easier to do as a day trip from San Cris than on the way with all your belongings, though, and it's not really worth the overnight (IMO).

8I would spend the night at chiapa de corzo. Nice little town, I like posada real hotel, the the beautiful little musuem, the zocolo and the boat trip in the morning.
Tehuantepec is perhaps more colorful but I like to stay at hotel cental in juchitan. Great market, eat garnaches and totopos, enjoy the very colorful culture. There is a spring nearby to swim, ugly trip there but very nice, supposedly the spring of the princess Doniji. There is a restaurant that by its self is worth the stop just outside Juchitan in Xandani, to the church ,next right and about 4 more blocks. Xanee? Best fish shrimp and michalads ever!!!!!!!
Then a very pleasant ride to oaxaca city.
