Indonesian Itinerary - sounds good?Hello!
I'm heading out in a bit more then a week and have an outline in my head.
I don't want to set anything in stone, but this is my general idea.
I was wondering if you guys had any last tips/adjustments/advice.
Fly into denpasar and head straight to Padang Bai
2/3 nights in Padang Bai - maybe explore Bali a bit
Take the slow boat to Gili T. or M. (depending on couch surfing situation)
4 nights on the Gilis.
Now take the slow bus/boat combo all the way to Flores.
hang around Labuanbajo untill I find a good boat to check out the Komodo Islands
Head to Seraya Island for a few nights if not to expensive
Then spead about a week exploring Flores
The hobbit cave
A few towns
and I plan on staying at Lena House for a few nights. Has anyone been there?
Now I will either fly back to java, or take the perma boat. (I read the blog about it crashing, and I have my worries, but I've also read many more blogs talking about what a wonderful trip it was.)
So if I do the boat I then have to make my way to java.
Anyways once there I will visit Borobudur and the area for a few days.
Then bus to Cidaun to visit my friend in peacecorps
And finally up to Jakarta where my flight leaves from.
How does this sound?

2Stayed at Lena's House last year for two night while waiting for my visa extension. Friendly family. I paid around 90,000rp with small breakfast included.... bungalow with mossie net; private shower/toilet area. There's also a Lena 2 not far away.
The beach wasn't the best and dependant on tide, you could only walk a few hundred yards (Maumere direction) due to a small but deep river accessing the ocean (a quick walk onto the main road helped me out though).
I stayed at another place during my second visa stay in Maumere area; can't remember the name of the place but I enjoyed it more; was able to walk for miles on the beach and it was more open;; the beach at Lena's is very short; in that a step off the property and you'll be in the water during a high tide, with a low tide not being much different.
Padang Bai - spent a week there last year; stayed at Clair and Ben's Lemon House (but I believe they have sold that on).
For a cheap place; face the bay, walk to your left and you'll eventually get to a place at the end of the road (just before it climbs). They do mattresses on the floor upstairs for 50,000rp a night. I'm sure they have some sort of security for your bags. To get to this place you need to walk around one of the numerous piers/jetties.
There are numerous little places in the streets just off the front walk/ many Chinese owned and can be got for 90,000rp a night (fan; private mandi).... need some bargaining skills for some of them though, as well as the threat of them losing you as you walk away ;-)
Didn't do any of the three Gilis, but had two separate 3 week long trips to Senggigi last year; stayed in local Kampung just before Senggigi for 50,000rp a night in a friends house (upper floor; balcony and sun terrace from the room). He also has a one bedroomed house with cooking facilities across the road which he was offering for 50,000rp a night. I decided to stay at his own house to be sociable and while there his cook taught me how to cook a good local sambal as well as many other local dishes.
