Costa Rica itenerary, any suggestions or crituqes?Im flying into San Jose on 11/30 and will arrive at 1230pm. I plan to stay there for 1 night (any suggestions where to stay? just want to look around the city probably will not party.)
The next day (12/1) In the morning I will head to Santa Teresa. I plan to get a private shuttle, am I correct in assuming that it will take about 4 1/2 hours? to get there, with the ferry crossing and all.
I will stay at Shaka Surf Resort until 12/8.
On 12/8 I will get a ride to Tamarindo (5 hrs of travel? any suggestions of how to get there? I may or may not be with one other person.
Im looking into a hostel to stay at in Tamarindo right now. I will stay there from 12/8-12/11.
On the morning of 12/11 I want to go to San Juan Del Sur, Nica. Any suggestions on how to get from Tamarindo to Penas Blancas? Ive read that it takes around 4 hours to get there, and can take 2-3 hours at the border to cross.
After I cross Im planning on taking a taxi to Surf Ranch Action Sports Resort in San Juan Del Sur. Any advice on how long it will take and the cost of a taxi from the nica border to san juan del sur?
I will stay there until 12/16. On the morning of 12/16 I will catch a ride to Managua because on 12/17 my flight out of Managua is at 8am.
I will not be taking any public buses. Thanks for your thoughts.

1if you will not take the public bus, your options will be shared van shuttle or private driver.
for shared van shuttle http://www.anywherecostarica.com or http://www.easyridecr.com or http://www.shuttlebus.co.cr or http://www.costaricashuttle.com for private transportation - http://www.tucanlimoservices.com
keep in mind that the airport is not actually in san jose but alajuela which is around 1/2 an hour or so from the airport. most people like to stay somewhere in alajuela - but if you really want to see san jose, that's possible, too. although there's not that much worth seeing. a taxi from the airport will be $25-$30 depending on where you are going in san jose.
for distances and travel times, look here: http://www.yourtravelmap.com the most accurate. if you are using google maps, it's good for maps but terrible with travel times for costa rica.
if you are not taking a public bus, it will be expensive to get to penas blancas. there are organized tours from tamarindo to nicaragua so you might be better off to book one of those (and not return to costa rica, of course.)
