San Diego to Mexico CityHi everyone,
I am currently considering travelling from the US ( perhaps San Diego) to Mexico City by bus and was wondering if anyone had done this before? And what the options were for making this happen? As a woman who will be travelling on her own, I am also obviously concerned about safety.
I would love to hear any suggestions, or from anyone who's done this before!

4Interjet (www.interjet.com.mx) and Volaris (www.volaris.com.mx) have direct flights from Tijuana to Guadalajara or Mexico City. So visit Tijuana and then either fly to Mexico City or fly to Guadalajara and bus down to Mexico City stopping off at places like Guanajuato and Queretaro or Guanajuato & Patzcuaro & Morelia (the former is easier).

7I definitely second poster #6's suggestion about busing down the Baja peninsula and taking the ferry from La Paz over to the Mexican mainland. This is an incredible, unforgettable trip that I have done several times and will do again. I spent this past March traveling the entire peninsula by bus without the ferry trip, and regret not doing it again when I had the chance. Do note, however, that the ferry from La Paz goes to Mazatlan, not Manzanillo. It also goes over to Topolobampo, which is farther north and significantly shorter.
