amywind, I found volunteer work through La Mariposa Spanish school in Masaya - it's a homestay/spanish class/volunteer combination, so only about half my days are doing volunteer work around their garden and possibly in their kitchen - they have lots of other volunteer options too! Worth checking out. I also might spend a week on Ometepe working on one of the farms - there seem to be quite a few there looking for volunteers. I'd be paying for both volunteer positions (but not very much), and given the room & board and my short length of stay, I'm fine with that. If you think you'll be in either of these places around the end of June, let me know! I'm definitely up for meeting other travellers.
