JeJu Island hostels

JeJu Island hostelsHi, can you recommend hostels that are within working distance to things to do at night on JeJu island? I'm thinking of chilling with people I meet up with near a beach or pub. I am thinking $25-$35 a night for accommodation around mid-August 2013.
WHat is it like to get around the island to see sites? Should I rent a car or is the bus service easy to navigate and will get me near enough to sites? I will be arriving on JeJu by ferry from Mokpo. When I arrive there, are their car rental booths I can rent a car at for a few days? To give me an idea of the size of the island, how long would you say it takes to drive round it? Where is the best beach with some amenities, like a place to buy a drink and eat outside of the busy area?
Thanks, and any suggestions on good eats that are backpacker prices would be good to know, too.
