We are planning our 2 week honeymoon in Thailand and I want to get your opinions on schedule and a few other things. Below is the schedule. I am also looking for recommendations on a cooking school and elephant farm in Chiang Mai. Other tour recommendations would be great also. Hotel suggestions in all 3 places would be great also! I was thinking of staying at JW Marriott in Bangkok, as we have points to use and I believe its close to the skytrain. I am leaning towards Chedi Chiang Mai, in CM and have no idea about Koh Samui. I chose Chiang Mai before Koh Samui as we will probably want some relaxation after Chiang Mai. Thanks!
Leave Atlanta July 12
Arrive Bangkok July 13
3 nights in Bangkok
Fly to Chiang Mai July 16 (flights $65 per person)
4 nights in Chiang Mai
Flight from Chiang Mai to Surat Thani - Then you take the ferry to Koh Samui - $255 per person
Direct Flight from Chiang Mai to Koh Samui - There is only one - $277/person
4 nights in Koh Samui - leave July 24
Flight to Bangkok out of Koh Samui is $168 or we can take the Ferry/Bus to Surat Thani and fly from there for $42. Ferry is $13/person and takes about 45 min. Taxi to airport.
Spend last 2 nights in Bangkok
Fly home July 26

4Thanks! Chedi is more expensive than some of the others, but I didn't find it to be too over the top. I wish we could stay at the Four Seasons, but that is out of our price range for sure! :) I look forward to hearing any recommendations on hotels in Koh Samui or cooking schools in Chiang Mai. Other than the hotels/flights, I haven't planned anything.

5Very detail oriented!
Spending the last few days in Bangkok allows you to do your tourist/souvenir shopping without having to carry that junk with you all over Thailand. Being in Bangkok prior to your flight home means you won't be worrying about any last minute connecting flights cancelling out or being late. Missing your flight back home is expensive!

6in chiang mai, chiang mai cookery school is a very nice place to have a thai cooking course.
i have been on the ferry from surat thani to samui many times. and also, plenty of times i flew from bangkok to samui on bangkok airways. the flight is cheap and comfortable, and i would not see the reason to travel overland anymore.
