Weather OctoberIm just wondering about traveling to Thailand in October I know its nearing the end of the wet season and rain is expected but how much? Will it rain all day with no sunshine or just rain for certain periods during the day? I don't mind a bit of rain, I think it would be nice but if the weather was awful all the time with no sun it would be off putting.
Has any one visited in Oct?

1October and May are the two most unpredictable weather months, when the monsoon seasons usually shift around and it's anyone's guess on a daily basis. It could be blazing hot or raining cats and dogs or anything in between. As per the tropics if it buckets down that would most likely be in the late afternoon or evening. Also it can vary widely based on your location (north vs. southern east/west coast). I could predict more accurately but it would involve lying ;-)

Look just get on with it. Have had a good time wading in almost thigh deep water into bars, restaurants, ATM's etc . Rain happens. True you may have to curtail some stuff (wouldn't want to climb in torrential rain) but the place is warm for heavens sake. Dress for the weather, make small changes to plans and enjoy your travels. Locals have to put up with the rain, if they can so can we.

3Locals have to put up with the rain but you certainly don't have to, why should you ? it's your holiday time. October is not ideal but every year is different and no one can predict the weather in Thailand this October anymore than you can predict your weather at home. If you can postpone just by 1 month i.e November, then the outlook is much better. Alternatively if you are stuck with October, keep your options open by checking the weather in the days before your arrival and head to the sunniest and driest area. It's easy to do as domestic travel is very cheap.

5One thing you can pretty much guarantee about October. It'll rain more in that month than just about any other. September and November being close competitors. This year, we had crazy rain until the beginning of December.
The problem is, you never know! Roads, bridges, etc have been washed out. Leaving tourists stranded. It's rare, but it happens.
With that being said, if you don't mind rain, it'll be warm and it normally only rains an hour or so. But it will rain bucket loads in that small amount of time! Flooding streets.
