3“We’ve re-invented the European airline industry away from this failed ’50s and ’60s model where you had to be rich to fly,” he said in the interview."
Actually primarily down to the 'open-skies' policy initiated by the much-maligned (by O'Leary) EU...the 'genius' of Ryanair has been to work and exploit the policy to its limits...

He used to fume on, with some justice, about the anti-competitive and monopolistic practices of Aer Lingus arising from the privileges it had in the old market. Now he's the one in the driving seat and doesn't seem ashamed to take advantage. Though I suppose he can justly point to the fact that anyone is free to come in and compete with him.

5I guess you are right about him wanting complete deregulation. Given half a chance he would have the disabled banded from flights and anybody stranded due to ash clouds would be told to sod off. The next think would be take the seats out and have everybody strap hanging ala London Underground.
He is a bit pissed over regulations regarding aircraft weight and landing charges at the moment.

What does annoy me about Ryanair is that they have learned that customers can be gulled by adverts with incomplete descriptions of the actual cost and service levels offered, and they fight to take advantage of that. Whereas in a true free market such information would be fully exposed.
