1You can see Black-tip Reef Sharks while snorkelling in Shark Bay (Ao Thian Og) on Ko Tao.
To get there cheaply from Bangkok would involve an overnight train or bus ride to Chumphon, transfer to the pier, and a boat to the island. 3rd class train tickets are very cheap but it will seem like a long night. You can buy combo tickets directly at the ticket windows of Hualamphong train station in Bangkok.

4A Swim with sharks...on the cheap, and easy..... I'm afraid the KOH TOA BLACKTIPS have mostly taken a hike to more tranquil grounds because of just that...hordes of overexcited folk..mostly non swimmers in dayglow orange life jackets and cheap steamed up masks, scaring the wits out of them. The days of having a 7am snorkel with around 30 BLACKTIPS in Shark Bay, TAO are over....so is the time of year they come in to breed. Just go for a quiet snorkel off the rocks with someone who is experience and you may see a shark, sea snake, jellyfish, giant trigger fish, moray eel, barracuda a great experience that you can tell your friends about. If you want to see the real deal in sharks..the Greek island of ITHACA is the place to have a snorkel, my daughter and I had an unexpected swim with a big Great White...
