Vipassana Meditation RetreatHey, if anyone is thinking of doing a meditation retreat in India, I've put some (tongue in cheek) info about it on my blog including pictures and some links. I've just updated the info as I'm looking to do another stint - has anyone had experience with this meditation course in other locations (I was near Jaipur)?

1I see from the blog post that you were at Dhamma Thali in Jaipur.
I was there for the long course in late 2011. I was due to sit in Thailand but the floods there forced a change of plans.
One thing I noticed on your blog post was about courses available to new students all of whom start with a 10 day course as this is felt to be the minimum necessary to learn the technique.
I have sat in a number of places in India, the US and Europe and they each have their own quality.
He was giving a 10 day discourse at the Massachusetts centre many years ago and he gets to the analogy about the rising and passing of sensations (or more technically of sankharas) by referring to the light bulb above him and how strange is the idea that electricity gets used up somehow.
All this was during very heavy rain and thunder. He points to the light bulb above him, makes his joke about the electricity bill, there is a loud roll of thunder and all the power goes out, including that lightbulb above him.
Silence, apart from the rain, and then Goenka says.. "That wasn't me."
I guess you had to be there!
