The legendary PQ!Just a quick note to say what a wonderful (short) time I had meeting up with one of Thorntree's regular adventurers, PQ.
I've been reading PQ's posts for a couple of years now, and also followed his extended tours all over the world on Crazyguy. And made a note to meet up with him if I ever get the chance.
That chance came last week, during a business trip in his hometown.
What a wonderful, humble person, even if he has all the right to be boastful of his experiences and academic background. On some topics we realle differ - i like cars, V8's and steak. PQ is more into lower CO2's and no-meat. But if there is somewhere new to discover on a bike, preferably on a route few people have traveled, he's there.
A short pint in his local pub and our time was up, I had to leave. But a great opportunity. On the 'net there's so much junk and artificialness. But the web also gives us the room to meet new, interesting people and discover through that worlds and experiences that would've been difficult before.
So, here's a beer to Thorntree that introduced me to the world of PQ, and to cycletouring our passion.
Cheers, and good luck with your next venture.

1I had a similar encounter on my latest tour. At an intersection in NE Thailand I met a fellow bike tourer. We chatted for a while on the usual where from and where to, etc. When we exchanged names I asked if he might be one of the famous Bills. He said I might have seen his name on Thorntree. And indeed I have.
He is one of the Big guys, very experienced, very hepful, always humble. Before we said our bye's he took a picture of me.
Later I wrote on Facebook that I felt as if I had been out for a pee and suddenly realising that the guy pissing next to me is Keith Richards, and he gets my autograph while I forget to take his.
