Sarawak Longhouse RecommendationHi,
We will be travelling to Sarawak in June and plan to visit a longhouse. We have a 3 yr old, and I think a day trip would be best. I have tried to search for longhouses, but can't seem to find relevant threads. Not too keen on Anah Rais; are there any other alternatives that are close to Kuching?
Has anybody had any experience of visiting a longhouse with a young child? I would be interested in overnight experiences. I don't think the sleeping conditions would be suitable for a young child, but do let me know if you think that I am wrong.

1How about doing a day trip to the Sarawak cultural village not far from Kuching?
Otherwise the Bavanggazo longhouse is very nice, but it's in Sabah

2I probably wouldn't do an overnight with a young child (though I've only done the less touristy ones, far away from Kuching..maybe the nearer ones have better facilities)
The ones I stayed at just had a dirty old mattress on the floor (in the verandah) with a mosquito net.And the toilets were quite an experience ;-)

5If you want to really zen, I suggest jumping on any long tail boat and going up any river and staying where the boat stops at the end of the day. The most authentic long houses are a long way from a major town and the further you go the better they are. And these remote long houses are never marked on maps.
