Day Trip - Chichen Itza + CenoteHi,
We are trying to plan a day trip to Chichen Itza incorporating a few nearby cenotes from Playa Del Carman.
I know there are quite a options to get to Chichen Itza from PDC. Our preferred option would be an early morning bus to Chichen Itza.
A few questions;
Is there a direct bus route to CI from PDC via Tulum or is this route 'the long way'? Are we better off catching a bus that goes via Cancun instead?
Once at CI what method of transport is best to visit nearby centones and roughly what are the costs for this transport?

1All the ADO first class buses to Valladolid, Chichen Itza, Merida, etc., operate via Tulum. It is a good way to go but to me, a rushed day trip if you try to include cenotes. The ADO bus from Play departs at 8 AM arriving at about 12 noon. Or, you can take a second class bus at 610 AM, arriving at about 10AM. The only ADO first class return from Chichen departs at
430PM but you could return via Valladolid where the last bus departs for Playa at about 8. (for the short trip from Chichen to Valladolid you have colectivos and second class buses):

5Thanks so much. I see that catching buses would mean a later arrival time (unless we catch the second class bus) and we may potentially miss out on visiting a cenote.
Perhaps we will drive ourselves. Which car rental company do you recommend in Playa? Any thing else we should consider if driving ourselves? Road tolls etc?

6A car is a good idea. And if you use the most direct route, via Tulum, no tolls.
I recommend ISIS Car Rental. It is a small family owned business, owned by a very honest lady in Cozumel with her nephew taking care of the Playa operation. Good cars and great people to work with.
