90Yes- this bus is still occurring. I have no idea how to clear cookies for one site- don't want to lose all my saved passwords etc. It doesn't happen when I have to manually log in.
I got this new laptop in May. Of course, I had to log in first time so the bug didn't occur. But it started occurring from the next time and it also occurs on the other machines I use.

92Clearing your CACHE nearly always clears saved browser info such as passwords and "remember me" info. That's the point of clearing the cache.Clearing COOKIES will do this for some sites- it cleared several of mine but is not usually as drastic as clearing the cache. You can clear cookies one by one (go into browser tools, privacy) but the list rarely identifies what cookie is what site.
To my detriment I have tried both of these "remedies" and not fixed this bug. I then had to deal with the pain of not being able to log straight in to dozens of my usual sites, banking, shopping etc without resetting my details and passwords- again a big thanks to TT techies for that!

93OK guys, thanks for that. Let me see if I want to try any of those...however it would of course be better if this bug can be cleared up without needing to go through this...
I've noticed this thread takesa particularly long time to load- happening for 3 days. Why? Not because of the no of posts- because I can easily go to another, much longer, thread with no problems...

95Clearing cache doesn't fix it. I now have this problem every time I log. I log from android, mac and several PCs and all use different browsers. It's not a problem with our computers - it's something with the lonelyplanet website set up.
"Clear cache" is the new "restart your computer". It's what half way techies use when they don't know what's wrong. Clearing cache is a pain the the jacksie, so please stop using this as the catch all answer to all problems.

100I've noticed a distinct pattern with my occurances of the bug.
When I sign on (after being logged out), it works for a while before finally failing again. This is usually within a day, but has lasted a couple on rare occasion (usually in Firefox, not IE).
Maybe the issue is with an ad, or some other script on the site?

102I haven't used the forum for 6-7 weeks because I've been away travelling and haven't had a lot of access to the internet.
Returning home 3 days ago I immediately discover that my "recent threads" are still not there!!
People are wondering why they haven't fixed the problem. But when you think laterally about it, Lonely Planet completely stuffed up all the guidebooks two years ago, when they brought in the new format. Despite all the kicking and screaming and constructive criticism from long term users, they haven't attempted to fix them either!
I think Lonely Planet have clearly adopted a corporate strategy to try and slowly dig their own grave.
