114had forgotten that logging out & logging in again has always been a temporary fix, just like post-and-discard.
When I log-in, I always check "remember me." So, I open TT, do a post-and-discard to fix the bug, and then go about my usual TT business. As long as I don't turn my computer off, Recent Threads stay up just fine. However, if I turn off my computer, the next time I go to TT, I'm logged in, but the Recent Threads don't show. TT thinks I'm logged in; my name & avatar show up as they should. But I have to do a fix to get Recent Threads back.
The plural of anecdote is not data.

116What #115 said.
In addition to the rencent threads issue, I am now losing other settings. Even after the "post and discard" so-called fix, the site does not recognize how I like my posts ordered, and gives me posts by date posted rather than replied.
This was only occasionally hapening in Firefox, but is now affecting me in IE as well.

The technical team have spent some time trying to work out the root cause of this bug. It's to do with an additional security check that the forum performs to verify that a member is signed in.
It's happening to some accounts that don't sign out or shut down. It's complicated by which browser a member is using which might be why it's not happening on your phone but it is happening on your laptop.
- always log out (try signing out and signing in again);
- use chrome (if you can);
- watch the threads you're interested in so you get an email alert when someone posts.
I know this isn't the answer that you've been waiting for but as you can see from discussions further up this thread for some people it works one day and then not the other.
The next iteration of Thorn Tree includes a requirement for members to be able to see their recent activity.
