3 nights in May - Pula vs Rovinj? We are a group of 5 going on a 'girls' trip' for 3 days at the end May, flying into Pula. We are looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend of sun, wine, good food, sightseeing and shopping. We arrive late Saturday morning and are leaving early Tuesday morning so we really just have Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday and Monday.
We had originally been planning to stay in Pula and do a day trip to Rovinj. However I'm now having second thoughts after reading through various posts and online guides. Most things I've read make it seem like Rovinj is a nicer town to stay in, then just go to Pula for a day trip to see the sights. None of us have been to either town.
We have booked a hotel in Pula already but it can be cancelled without penalty and there still are places available in Rovinj on the dates we want to travel if we wanted to change
So for people who have been to both, if you only had 3 nights to spend somewhere, would you choose Pula or Rovinj?

I had stayed there for a week a few years ago, it was lovely, on the touristic side but definitely not crowded like the rest of Croatia.
Pula is just another town. We walked around the Roman arena and left.

Sorry to hijack this topic, but any suggestions on where to stay in Rovinj that is less than 20 euro per person per night? We are four girls, but we're looking for a hostel type accommodation where we can perhaps meet other travelers? Currently, Rovinj seems to have a lot of apartment type accommodation. We're traveling in September and hope to stay in Rovinj for three nights.
Thanks in advance!
