Pakistan in FebruaryHi all,
I'm looking for some advice on what to do/see in Pakistan in February (yes, February is ages away but I want to get some ducks in a row early for various reasons). I am more interested in Northern Pakistan than Southern, though I realise that Feb will be a very cold time to travel in the North! We will be travelling as a couple and will have about two weeks to explore. That isn't a very long time, and we know we want to make a stop in Lahore at some point. I was intrigued when reading about the Hunza Valley, but would it just be silly of us to go there in Feb? Are there some other places in Northern-ish Pakistan that you could recommend that are accessible at that time of the year? We are keen to see wildlife and natural scenery, rather than historical sites. Oh, and we're not intense trekkers.

3Very much doubt the road from Skardu to Deosai will be open in Feb, it didn't open till May last year ( I know 'cause I was there).
Also Shandur pass Gilgit to Chitral will be closed, ( probably untill April ) so your only option would be to fly to Chitral (from ISLBD/Peshawar). Hunza/Karimabad, you could probably get there, but you wouldn't find much open when you did.
@2, I'm afraid you are not going to see any Brown Bear in Feb, they hibernate from Oct to April/May.
Also, Chitral Gol National park ( approx 2 hrs in 4x4 from Chitral town) may not be accessible in Feb due to bad weather, furthermore, due to its close proximity to the Afghan border you will require special permission from Chief of Police Chitral to visit. As all foriegn visitors to Chitral are required to register with police on arrival and are accompanied at ALL times by an armed police escort, I think it highly unlikely that he would countenance any of his men to enter this area at this time of year.
All in all, I would say it's a pretty bad idea and you should wait 'till the spring when the snows have thawed.

4More then agreed with UB,
Its not possible to see brown beer in Khunjerab area in February (even in July) because they don't exist there except Deosai plans & Deosai is closed in the mentioned period of time due to snow fall (it only opens after June) so chance of going through.
Chitral national (where you could see snow leopards) 'd be closed as well due heavy heavy so better wait till April.Shandur pass 'll be closed too because snow so its not much fun to be in the mountains in winter.
