Ski-touring in the PamirDear all,
We are thinking of travelling to Kyrgyztan next week for travel and ski touring. We are not sure, how are the conditions in the Pamir mountains. Is there still some snow in the high altitudes?
Do you know someone, who is doing this kind of sport in Kyrgyztan starting from Osh?
We are two German guys (35 and 37), living in Munich, active in mountaineering and curious for Kyrgyztan.
Thank you for your help!It is so hard to get information from here!

I searched as well for the snow hights, but for me they had to be low because I'm cycling through Kyrgyzstan.
Recently I have had contact with some travel agencies in Kyrgyzstan.
The Kyrgyz Community Based Tourism Association has provided me with really good, useful and all the information I needed! (they called a local in one of the mountain villages, Sary-Tash in my case)
Maybe they can help you out as well.

3If you want to travel around the peak Lenine or this anywhere near the tajik border, you need a permit-zone. There are no so much control, but if you cannot deal with guards, they have to put you in their jail till the moment that police from Osh will bring you to Osh for control.
Yesterday, snow conditions on the way to Osh were not so good. If you need on the way somebody who can go for ski touring with you, you may contact Hayat, the coordinator of CBT Arslanbob or a skitouring guide Azamat Jumashev (you can find him on FB). Last week a group of skiers where in Arslanbob and Suusamyr valley. Good conditions, but temperature can change quickly. And for sur, it's not the best season for avalanche safety.
