Hiking in HawaiiI'm planning to go hiking in Hawaii this September. I bought an old LP "Hiking in Hawaii", but all hikes there are short, the longest one is 4 days. As I understand the most beautiful Hawaii island is Kauai, and there are too some short hikes. Is it possible to do multi day hike around Kauai without staying in hotels and sleeping in a tent?
Any thoughts about/other ideas?

3The Kalalau trail is great (remember to book permits in advance). You can hike in to the beach in one day and then out the next (11 miles in and 11 out again). But thy and spend at least one day at the beach in the back, here you can do small day hikes, take a swim in the pools and find the most amazing oranges ive ever tasted...! Information can be found on this website: http://www.kauaiexplorer.com/hiking_kauai/kalalau_hike.php and trails are booked online with the national park. You can also do a lot of nice day hikes around waimea canyon.
But for a multiday hike Kalalau are worth it... i went a year ago with lots of rain on the first part and loved it (it seldom rains in the back)
