Harare to MalawiHi all,
I'm trying to do a bit of research for my upcoming trip to Lake Malawi. Ideally, I'd like to go from Masvingo (Great Zimbabwe) to Blantyre on the Intercape, but the bus website doesn't allow me to indicate that route as a preference. I was wondering if anyone knows if this is possible. It seems like the Jo'burg-Lilongwe bus stops by Masvingo, Harare, Tete and Blantyre from what I saw on the route map...Does anyone know anything about this?
It seems as though there are many minibuses that make the journey from Masvingo to Harare. If the intercape is not an option, I'll have to find an alternative for the Harare-Blantyre portion of the trip, and with minibuses I've heard it can take an excruciatingly long time. Does anyone know of other direct buses that go from the two cities? Or direct from Harare-Lilongwe? How long does the trip take? I'm not on a flight budget.

I took the bus last Oct/Nov between Harare and Blantyre. $25 one way with Pioneer Bus Co., the best of 3 companies on the route. 13 hours. A visa for Moz is compulsory. A rip off, but unavoidable. Get a multiple entry if you are returning the same way. It is slightly cheaper than 2 single entries. $1departure tax at Harare bus station. Keep the chitty. It will be collected before the bus leaves. Have fun!
