Russian visaI'm thinking of doing a two week wildlife trip near Khabarovsk followed by three weeks in the volcanoes of Kamchatka. It seems it's easy enough to fly between Khabarovsk and Petropavlovsk.
But the Russian tourist visa is only valid for 30 days. I need 40 days. So either I (a) get a business visa, but that costs over GBP200 plus it looks like a lot of bureaucracy and I won't really be there for business purposes anyway so that might create issues or (b) take a boat from Khabarovsk to Fuyuan in China for a day, having previously got two Russian visas and a Chinese one or (c) fly to Japan for a day between trips.
Any comments/better ideas?

1Go down the business visa route, tourists visas for UK passport holders are just for 30 days but that doesn't mean you can have 15 days, leave for a few days and then another 15. It's 30 day's from the first day you enter.
You can have either a single entry tourist visa or a double entry, but that's it. Some of the areas you are planning to visit may have some special restrictions as they look like they are in border controlled areas.......

2I think you are suggesting you might try to get two separate "live" Russian visas in your passport before starting your trip.
Unfortunately many/most countries don't allow this. As part of applying for a visa they will cancel any previous visas (for the same country) in your passport. I don't specifically know about Russia, but given their generally very restrictive visa policies I think it is very unlikely they will allow you to have two separate live visas. Sorry!

5There are companies who sell invitations so you may want to think about that option too and remember you need to produce a cover letter to support a business visa application.
A lot of people here use these business visas to visit Russia even though they go for personal visits, so don't worry about it....
