From Bangkok to Laos and Cambodia (3 weeks)Hi,
I'm going to Laos and Cambodia for 3 weeks. I arrive in Bangkok and from there I will probably go to northern Laos first (Vientiane, Vang Vieng, Luang Prabang) and then will be heading south (Pakse, Don det), to Cambodia (Siem Rep and Phnom Penh). I stilll need to figure out how to best get to Laos. As I don't have much time and would like to visit a few places, I need to try to save time for travelling. It seems that the easiest and quickest option is the night train from Bkk to Vientiane. The only problem is that later from LP I would have to go back the same way to be able to head more south.
Could you please let me know if you have an idea of how to best deal with it logistically so that I won't waste too much time?

2As #1 said, be sure to check the Lao Airlines website. They do quite a few flights between the major centres in Thailand, Laos and Cambodia.
I've flown with them a few times in the region and its a pretty good airline.
As a suggestion you could:
- Fly Bangkok to Luang Prabang
- Take a bus LP - Vang Vieng - Vientiane
- Fly Vientiane to Pakse
- Bus Pakse to Don Det
- Cross the border in Cambodia, continue to Stung Treng
- Take a bus Stung Treng - Kratie - Phnom Penh - Siem Reap
- Bus or fly Siem Reap to Bankok
I think you could work out an itinerary that would fit in all of those places quite comfortably in 3 weeks.
