OV Chipcard

Hi

I am trying to work out if an OV Chipcard is able to be used on trains going from Amsterdam to say Rotterdam, Kinderdijk, Delft; or is only used within Amsterdam.

Thanks

An OV chipcard can be used for most if not all public transport (bus, train, trams, subway) in The Netherlands. However, there are personalized cards and ones which just work as a money card, as it were. To use one on trains I believe it has to have a minimum value of €20.

Is it cheaper than buying tickets as you need them?

If you would only use it for trains: yes, as you don't need to pay the non-refundable amount to purchase the card.

However, travelling by local bus/tram/metro is (much) cheaper than buying single tickets for every journey.
