Advice on my trip to BerlinHi People,
Want some advice, I am planning a trip to Europe in a couple of Months and plan to first go to Berlin because I have heard so many good things about it. Would like to stay there a week I think. However want to do it on a bit of a budget so if any of you have any advice of where to stay, what to do and good places to eat that would be appreciated. I love to party and hope to get to go to some underground techno nights there, want quite an arty area to be based in and don't want it to be too touristy.

berlin is great ! a very good atmosphere, plenty to do, visit, explore, great places to eat, drink, party etc. there is no real "city centre", its more like several small cities, each with a particular vibe / feeling to it. the michelberger is a very cool place to stay at http://www.michelbergerhotel.com/#/rocket, its not luxurious, but i wouldnt call it budget either. there is a generator hostel which is supposed to be quite good. prenzlauer berg and friedrichshain are great places to stay at (but also other quarters have their charm). for good places to eat, you can find everything in berlin - currywurst from a van, great indian food in a nice restaurant, great italian food, berlin is one of the best places for great food.

2There are plenty of really good hostels in Berlin.
It is also no problem to find cheap places to eat. And even the not that cheap places offer a good value for money compared to what you pay elsewhere in Western Europe.

4haha lucapal, curryworst can be pretty grim at times I agree, an acquired taste maybe... like offal. Ive been to Berlin a few times now so I am no expert but my advice would be to stay in Schall und Rauch in Prenzlauer Berg its a bit out the way but quite a cool area. The Hackersmart is a great place for cheap food and just an interesting place to walk around. Golden Gate near the Jannowitzbrücke train station is an "interesting place" really has the atmosphere of the old 3 day raves in 90's I used to go to. Its not easy to find but people are not pretentious, they are there just to have a good time and they do it well! When I went I used this company click on the short term section. and rented a flat, when I went back I booked with the same owner directly because they gave me their contact details. I here there are some good cheap hostels there too but Im a little bit old for that now and like my own space and comforts. If you want to see some art in Berlin I would recommend reading this article, its difficult to make recommendations of course because I dont know what you like. http://www.guardian.co.uk/travel/2011/aug/17/10-best-galleries-berlin I went to the me Collectors room and that was amazing, would highly recommend it, my girlfriend dragged me around a few others as well but that one in particular stood out for me. Have a great trip anyway.
