Proposed Itinerary for 1 week in South Korea - any thoughts?

Hello all,

I have one week for a first visit to South Korea in late May and would welcome any thoughts on my proposed general itinerary below. I still need to do finer grain research on particular sights in each place but am trying to get the shape of the week down. As usual, too much to see, too little time.... Many thanks in advance for any suggested adjustments/additions/etc:

Day 1: Arrive Incheon 03.40. KTX from Seoul Station to Gyeongju, arriving around 08.00. Sightseeing in Gyeongju (haven't researched that in detail yet).

Day 2: More sights in Gyeongju. Afternoon train to Busan. Sights in Busan.

Day 3. Sights in Busan. Late afternoon train to Seoul. Stay in Saerim Hotel? (not confirmed, but seems well located).

Day 4: 06.30 bus to Seoraksan National Park for the day.

Day 5: Seoul sights.

Day 6: 07.30 DMZ Tour w. Koridoor

Day 7: Seoul sights

Day 8: Seoul sights, and surounding, e.g. Suwon? Still to be decided.

Day 9: Fly out in morning

Re: DMZ tour. Try to get the dual tour that does both the DMZ and JSA. It may mean you are out for longer but it gives a more rounded experience. I did it in 2009 and glad that I did the combined.

Where are you flying from? You might feel jet lagged and tired.
You could try and spend one full day/two nights in either Gyeongju or Busan. Busan has nice beaches so you could relax there one afternoon.
That would leave you with three full days in Seoul, including one day for DMZ, but that should be ok.

Seems terribly rushed. There is a mountain with temples you can hike to just north of Seoul. You take the subway to Dobongsan. 24 hours in Busan is very limiting. Hardly seems worth all the effort.

Thanks very much for the very helpful comments, as a result of which I have decided to spend two nights in Busan and cut a night from Seoul. I'll be coming from UB so probably not particularly jet-lagged. And indeed, the mountain with temples by metro from Seoul may come in handy if I start to get city fatigue.
