How did recent visitors find Iran?We are planning to travel there this year and wanted to find out what people's experiences and impressions were of their visits.
Did people enjoy their trips? Was it annoyingds having to be on a tour the entire time?
Has the recent currency issue had a big affect on the trip's budget?
Any places or tour companies recommended?
And lastly has anyone gone skiing there and can recommend anywhere to go?
Any insight and/or advice would be appreciated!!!

1I was in Iran for a month in November. I visited Tehran, Esfahan, Yazd, Shiraz, Bandar Abbas, Kerman and Mashhad, along with a few other day trips along the way.
I had zero bad experiences and the people were wonderful. I didn't have to be on tour (only US citizens have to be) and travelled independently.
The recent plummeting of the value of the Rial has undoubtedly made the country one of the cheapest destinations in the world currently. Financially, there has never been a better time to visit the country. I spent around 600$ in a month traveling by bus and staying in cheap hotels and hostels (most of the time, but not always). If I wanted to keep it really tight I could have probably done it with 450$
There is a guided day tour around the sights near Yazd organized every day from the Silk Road hotel, price was 500 000 Rial and it was pretty good. Went to Persepolis with the Pars tour agency in Shiraz which was also pretty cheap (don't remember price) and the guide was excellent.
Haven't gone skiing unfortunately.

3I was in Iran recently and it was totally wonderful.Safe ,a surprise in every way.
I went on a small group tour.since I didn't want to be on a big bus with maybe a lot of people I'd rather not know.
I worked with a woman in New York..who totally navigated us through from the visa process on.
